I've used Terry towels, all the way to cheap Amazon towels, but this is a unit and very easy to use and maintain, even after a wash. I would suggest air-drying it instead of throwing it in the dryer.
No problems with the hook as others have mentioned. Great to use to wipe off tip as my pool hall does not have carpet to wipe off tip.
